One of the biggest mistake you can do is to learn this spell too early into the game. You really do not want to join fights, unless you farm some key items. For this reason you do not need to skill Stone Gaze at least until you get level 9.
Practice to use this spell as effectively as possible. During the laning stage, your goal to use this spell to hit both ranged creep and the enemy hero with latest jumps, as it will deal a lot of damage to them and restore your mana.
In early stages, use this spell carefully not to burn your mana completely. Make sure to have this spell activated in team fights.
Use Split Shot to its full potential by farming effectively in the early and mid stages of the game. Ask your teammates to stay close to you in fights so you would be able to hit maximum amount of enemy heroes.

LATE GAME
One of the best, if not the best item you can get on agility core hero. Additional evasion alongisde other bonuses will make your hero significantly stronger.
Satanic is a powerful late-game item, which will improve your surviveability in fights. Aside from very useful active spell, you should also appriciate major status resistance buff this item gives.
SITUATIONAL
As Medusa heavily depends on her mana, Magic Wand can significantly improve her surviveability in fights.
Get this item if enemy team has a lot of magical damage or disables.
If your team is lacking damage in the late-game, this is the item you go for.
Mjollnir works very well against illusion based heroes. This item will increase your farming and split pushing potential.
Get this item only if enemy cores have a powerful source of evasion.
As Medusa is a very slow hero, Hurricane Pikes is an excellent item to get to increase her mobility. This item is essential to buy against powerful melee cores, such as Ursa.
Decent and safer alternative to Divine Rapier.
Spellblock can be very useful against specific heroes, such as Batrider or Legion Commander. This item also provides quite a lot of stats, which is very good for Medusa.
