Stack jungle camps and destroy them using Firestorm. This will also improve your Atrophy Aura damage to be able to harass enemies in-lane or to prepare for a fight. Firestorm should follow Pit of Malice to ensure damage is done to enemies trapped within Pit of Malice. Use this ability to farm, ferry over clarities regularly.
Use Pit of Malice as a zoning tool, you do not necessarily need to trap enemies in, but can use it to force them to retreat another path or must cross it to fight you. Anyone who crosses Pit of Malice while it is up, gets immobilized. You can use this separate teams or to disrupt the back-line. Affects and reveals invisible units.
Use the early level in Atrophy Aura to not only screw with the enemys laning ability, but also to incur damage to help with last-hitting or any harassment needed. When preparing for a team-fight, try and farm (jungle) creeps to improve your base damage - and then initiate a fight with that damage
Rely on Fiends Gate to provide an exit for allies if they know they cannot fight. Another option is to take Roshan with less risk, backdoor towers or even counter-gank enemies whove targeted an ally.

The extra Strength and Underlords large mana-costs make Soul Ring a worthwhile early investment to reach larger items later on.

Core (Required, in order)

Opt for Magic Stick early if the enemy spam a lot of spells or you’ll be in the lane significantly. Magic Wand can be bought as early as before Boots of Speed or as late as after your core Boots upgrade depending on how the enemy and their spell usage. Magic Wand can also be bought to make room for other items due to limited space.
Pipe of Insight for a magic-heavy team. Otherwise, consider armour and strength-based items to alleviate incoming damage amounts.
Greaves dispels slows and silences that can hamper you from casting your low-cooldown abilities. More importantly, it improves incredible support for your team and beefs up an Underlord that is okay taking hits to the face but has a lot of trouble escaping outside his ultimate ability.
Aghs Shard is an incredibly valuable item for Underlord when front-lining as it outputs more damage from your Firestorm and reduces the interruption when casting it so you can continously cast your other abilities, items and physical attacks. Be sure to cast it on yourself if youre in the front dealing right-click heavy damage.
Shivas Guard is a great defensive item to increase your armor while also staving off strong physical carries wtih your nuke aura. Against tanky enemies, this item is also recommended to reduce their sustainability through regeneration or lifesteal.

Situation (only if needed)

Force Staff is a necessary item if maneuvrability is key for your hero or to save an ally.
A Solar Crest not only gives you a larger mana-pool in the early-game to help alleviate harassment with your spells but it also provides strong armor, attack speed, movement speed and a barrier to protect your ally who can then initiate or gank someone with all that value. You can also apply Solar Crest on yourself for additional protection to make enemies you gank harder to fight back with you without losing or taking significant damage.
Heavens Halberd provides more survivability through evasion. To add, it also increases your life-steal/regeneration, reduces stuns and can disable foes.
Crimson Guard is recommended against high-input and illusion-base or unit-related damage heroes, like Lycan or Broodmother, to mitigate their physical output against your team that needs, but cannot focus on, sustainability. Crimson Guard scales with your strength, so it is especially valuable with heroes who have high strength gain or are building strength-base items.

Extension (choice, Any order)

With Blink Dagger, you can initiate with your Pit of Malice to hold enemies down, stay near them to right-click and Firestorm them quickly before they can even react or escape.
The value of Lotus Orb is both its stats in mana and armor but also the ability to dispel slows and silences that would be keeping you down. Furthermore, the ability to cast back big nuking abilities to your enemies has tremendous value, especially against stuns or ultimate damaging abilities.
Late in the game, Scythe of Vyse solves all your mana issues but more importantly guarantees to lock enemies down before they can even pop BKB. Its a great initiating tool when you know the enemy relies on BKB to safely output their damage.

Luxury (Late-Game optional)

For heroes who are dependent on their abilities to engage fights, Octarine Core is a great assistance, especially if you naturally build into it by having its components created earlier in the game.

Euls Scepter provides Underlord with the needed movement speed to stay on top of enemies while also providing key mana regeneration due to his low cooldown of Firestorm. Continually chain-disable enemies by casting Euls between Pit of Malice root effects or do it before to guarantee Pit of Malice lands.
Combined with Atrophy Aura, Blade Mail absorbs a good amount of damage that would have otherwise killed Underlord. Pick this up versus especially aggressive (but frail heroes) such as Sniper, Clinkz, etc.
Use Rod of Atos to either entrap an enemy until you are in-range to capture them with your Pit of Malice If the enemy is in your Pit of Malice, follow-up with your Rod of Atos to extend the duration and proc. another root from Pit of Malice after.
Consider Linken's Sphere if specific ultimate, target abilities like stuns and silences are keeping you down. This should be seen different as Black King Bar because it will waste ultimate abilities on you like Doom's Doom or Necrophos' Reaper Scythe from completely killing/disabling you.
Improve team-fights and pushing power with Vladmir's Offering. Magnus is a great holder of auras given his ability to maneuver and stay in and out of fights when necessary.
BKB is necessary for a hero that relies on not getting stunned or silenced to dish out the necessary damage.
Rely on your position 4 to refill your Bottle whenever they TP back to your tower after roaming/ganking. Pick up Bounty Runes to refill your bottle as well. TP back home and use your ultimate early on to go back to base to also refill your bottle.
The early Ring of Health means survivability for a hero that can resist a lot of early physical harassment but also utility when using items like Soul Ring to spam your spells.
Vanguard provides Underlord with more resistance, some better health and regeneration to help him front-line a bit and coupled well with Soul Ring.
Combined with your Atrophy Aura and your overall presence, Assault Cuirass adds additional pressure to the enemy team and bonus for your team, making it a strong core item for a hero that desires more armor overall.
Gleipnir is a great item if you have the all-around damage but lack the ability to keep people in places and need to disable them long enough to hold your attacks. For fights that have a lot of maneuverability involved, Gleipnir can be a solution instead of Mjollnir providing attack speed.
Boots of Bearing makes initiating easier for you. Boots of Bearing should be used liberally to give your team incredible movement speed to engage the enemy after initiation or, if necessary, as an escape if you find you or your teammates are in trouble. Your Boots will recharge, so don’t worry about running out.
An early bracer increases your survivability in the lane especially versus a heavy harassing team.
Change the attributes of your Power Threads depending if you need to farm (AGI, more attack speed), fight (STR, more health, to survive longer) or regenerate mana (INT, mana regen.). When using Salve or Clarity, keep your boots on AGI to have a smaller pool of health or mana so more is replenished upon consumption.
